We had lots of fun at our Forest Easter Camp!
Througout the 4 days of our Easter Camp, our approach was to provide a comfortable and inspring environment, where children can explore their own interests and curiousties and make connections with nature in their own way.
Even though we had really cold weather for the first 2 days, all the children were immersed in nature, found their own joy, built friendships, and developed themselves.
The ethos of forest school is child-led and free play. So, we introduced many different activities and ideas, but each child responded in different ways. Some children loved games, den building or using ropes, others enjoyed listening to the story telling, nature crafts, foraging and weaving. Others loved creating imaginary creatures using clay. We believe that through play, the children build their confidences, self-belief, find what they like, what they don't like, explanding little bit of their own boundaries, which makes them grow.
We were blessed with our assistants, Kate who is working as a SNA and loves nature and outdoors, and Genevieve who is an actress and an amazing story-teller!
Some of the activities we did:
- Making spring fairies, forest wild animals usingi clay, leaves, flowers and imaginations!
- Making elder necklacess using palm drills
- Den building
- Story telling
- Spring nature scavenger hunts
- Tracking each other as rabbits and foxes using flour
- Foraging and making wild garlic and nettle pesto, and nature tea
- Climbing
- Weaving and making friendship braids
- Water spray fight!
- Daily mindful quiet time and sensory connection to nature
- Lots of other arts and crafts!
